CHIAKI (CHIAKI WATANABE)
 

CHIAKI (Chiaki Watanabe) is a visual artist, currently based in Copenhagen Denmark. She creates abstract visual music works in video, live video performance and installation.  Her work explores cross-sensory experience in a minimalist framework by integrating contemporary/experimental music and visual imagery as visual music. Her interest lies in psychophysical effects of visual music - how visual music stimulates the senses for all ages.

Her works have been presented internationally at festivals, galleries and museums including New York Video Festival, European Media Art Festiva l(DE), ZKM media art museum (DE), New York Museum of Modern Art, Austin Museum of Digital Art (US), Institute of Contemporary Arts (UK), Den Frie Udstilling (DK), DANSEhallerne (DK) and Bergen Kunsthall (NO). She has performed at venues including Lincoln Center, World Financial Center, Eyebeam, Dance Theater Workshop, The Kitchen, Japan Society and Merce Cunningham Studio in New York.
